As a Reiki level 2 practitioner I am always amazed by the healing that this modality can bring spirituality, emotionally and physically to myself and those I practice with. Reiki is a Japanese technique derived from the Japanese words Ri (meaning Spiritual wisdom and Ki (meaning Life Energy); used around the world as a natural means of connection, healing, and self-improvement. Using Reiki in healing practice is set on the principal of universal life energy that connects all living things.
Meditation: Cultivating Compassion
As an intentional practice in nature, I am often inspired by meditation and its ability to raise my own energetic frequency. Below is an offering of a simple mediation, that can be integrated into your own practice!
For this practice you should begin by setting an intention. One of my personal intentions for the week was “Let my energy flow in deep unison and connection with Mother Earth.”
After setting a personal and meaningful intention, I would suggest finding a comfortable place to sit directly in connection with the Earth, perhaps with your back against a tree for more stability. Alternatively, you can lay on the ground if that allows you to connect more deeply. Begin by placing both hands on your lower belly (Sacral Chakra). As you inhale, feel each breath and imagine light flowing up into your legs, body, and into your belly and heart space. Take a longer exhale out and imagine sending this light back down your lower belly, down your legs and feet and returning to the Earth with love and compassion. With each inhale and longer exhale imagine the light growing brighter and stronger, and the energy circulating back and forth between yourself and the core of the Earth.
Pay attention to your lower body. Does it feel heavy? Can you feel the connection between yourself and the stability of the Earth? If your mind starts to drift, again imagine the light and the tether of compassion that flows between your physical body’s center and that of Mother Earth.
After several minutes of focusing on your breath, relax and sit in the energy. Feel the energy flow through your entire body. When you are ready, bring your attention to the present moment and reflect on any emotions or feelings. End the practice with gratitude for the innate wisdom of nature and for the compassion cultivated during your practice.
