A widely accepted theory in science is that our Universe was born 13.7 billion years ago with an incomprehensible event called The Big Bang. While there is significant scientific evidence that leads us to accept this theory as our universal origin story, there is still much to learn. We are only at the beginning of understanding our Universe, our Earth, and, truly, ourselves.
Earth is a dynamic, ever-changing, living system estimated to be about 4.6 million years old. Earth is a Planetary marvel because it hosts the perfect conditions to support life by complete universal, evolutionary chance. Right now, it is the only Planet that we know of that hosts a complete diversity of life.

Earth is not the Planet we inhabit, Earth inhabits us. We all exist due to the life-giving properties of Earth. Humans at every age of humanity recognized this fact. It is the human relationship with Earth that makes humanity specialized. Humans have a shared need to answer questions that are unanswered. We have a nag for discovery. We like to create understandings for things that we do not understand. We like to push the boundaries to know more. We like to share learned knowledge and experience intergenerationally. The human spirit is vibrant and something that we should not be ashamed of. Not all of our discoveries have led us to betterment, however, our ability to harness our spirit for the pursuit of more can lead us right just when we need it.
When we are able to take ourselves on a journey of our universal origins, perhaps we can see things more wholly. Each of us was born for a reason. We each make up one part of the human race, which is part of the Earth System, which is part of our Solar System, which is part of our Universe. There are many reasons to live, act, be, and share.
Humans are not parasites on this Planet, we are this Planet. We are meant to use our human spirit to be stewards of the Earth and all the life that exists on it. We can all take part in sustainability and environmental connection no matter our individual background, education, religion, occupation, culture, or belief system. We all have a viewpoint on sustainability because sustainability impacts all of us.
Find yourself in our Universe. Find your place in our World.
